collected: vintage glassware

It’s no secret that I LOVE to collect candle and votive holders. I almost always leave a big antique shopping trip with at least one, and even though we don’t always have the space to add more, they really do come in handy when I’m planning a dinner party or special event. While I tend to gravitate towards vintage (Orrefors and Kosta especially), I also love a good modern candelabra.

Other than buying in-person, my favorite source for quality vintage candle holders is Etsy. Another go-to source? Thrift shops! They are by far the best source if you want to grow your collection without spending too much.

I sifted through my favorites to find some links for you! You’ll notice most are glass, crystal, or metal — all materials I’m drawn to for candle holders. There’s just something about sunlight hitting a glass votive holder that makes me swoon.

cyber week sales

It’s hard to believe it’s that time again, but the biggest sale season has arrived and it’s a good one this year! Personally, I’m happy that retailers no longer limit their sales to one single day (effectively making it the worst day of the year IMO) and instead spread them out over a much more manageable 1-2 weeks.

Adding some of the sales I’ve been eyeing here! I’ll add more as I come upon them.

Receiving the gift of sleep wellness with The Company Store

I don’t know about you, but I love my layers when sleeping. I like to snuggle up with a fluffy duvet and piles of cozy throws and sink deep into sleep.

Getting quality sleep is THE best way for me to have a productive day, not to mention I’m just an all-around better person to be around when I’m well-rested. So this holiday season, I’m focusing on gifting with sleep wellness in mind. For me, that starts with bedding since I want to not only feel excited to hop into bed every night but as a snuggly sleeper, I like to know I’ll have enough layers to keep me warm and snug all night long.

Recently, I got together with a few IG pals that are just as passionate about sleep wellness to do a little gift exchange, and I am SO excited to show you what I got from Kasey over at @sbkliving. All I told her was that I liked layers and soft, comfy, textures and she delivered.

All of the cozy layers are The Company Store — My bundle included their Luxury Velvet Flannel bedding in Cloud Blue and a few new throws to add extra warmth. One is the Chunky Cable Knit Throw and the other is the Ledge Plaid Merino Wool Blanket. Both are beautifully neutral and oh so cozy. It’s been a few days now with the new bedding and I have LOVED sleeping with the new pieces, especially on an extra cold night. Now, I don’t have to steal the covers quite as often, since I have extra layers to pull over me.

Also sharing some other picks below for those that, like me, that love a comfy and snuggly bed 😴. If you’re still looking for gift ideas or if you want to gift yourself, I think some quality bedding from The Company Store is the perfect place to start.

This post is part of a paid partnership with The Company Store, but all opinions are my own.

the best ornate mirrors to shop right now + tips on searching for them

Pretty much ever since we moved to Brooklyn 5 years ago, I’ve been enamored with the interior architecture of historic Brownstones and townhomes here. In our own apartment, I’ve tried to decorate with that architecture in mind, and bring in elements that I felt would only enhance the Parisian decorating style that I love so much. These elements include a mantel and most recently, a Pier Mirror. Now that we have our mantel, I want to bring in an overmantel mirror to layer into our already styled mantel. I have found SO many gems on my search, and I’m excited to share the keywords I use to search, the websites they’re most often found on, and of course, links to some of the best ones on the market right now.

My go-to resources for finding mirrors include Rubylane, Chairish, Liveauctioneers, Etsy, eBay, Anthropologie, Wayfair, and good ol’ Google Shopping.

When it comes to searching, you want to use a combination of the following terms —

  1. gilded

  2. giltwood

  3. ornate

  4. French

  5. Parisian

  6. overmantel mirror

  7. mantel mirror

  8. buffet mirror

  9. antique gold mirror

  10. Victorian mirror

Something to keep in mind as you search, especially if you find one that you love but it’s not in the finish you want, is you can always paint, spray paint, or use Rub n Buff to get the gilded look. I wouldn’t recommend doing this on an antique piece unless the original finish is in bad shape. However, so many new styles that are more affordable would great candidates!

The mirrors linked below are a mixture of antique, vintage and new. They’re all gilded gold, but many also come in silver, and the shapes and sizes vary. I tried to add in a mix of price ranges, so there’s something for every budget.
